Abbotsford Quilter’s Guild
“Quilts in the Valley” - June 10 & 11, 2011
- All guild members are invited to participate in the Quilt Show whose
membership dues are paid by December 10, 2010 (6 months prior to the Show) and who have attended at least 3 out of 6 monthly
guild meetings prior to the show.
- Any quilt will be accepted which has not been previously hung at a “Quilts
in the Valley” Quilt Show.
Quilt Show Categories:
- The Hanging Team reserves the right to correct the category of an entry.
- Any item will have the option of being registered “for display
only”.
1. Pieced - Piecing must predominate over appliqué or other technique. Machine
quilting or long arm quilting done by self.
q Large Pieced - perimeter of more than 300”
q Medium Pieced – perimeter between 200” and 300”
q Small Pieced – perimeter of less than 200”
2. Appliqued – any size - Applique must predominate over piecing or other technique.
Machine quilting or long arm quilting done by self.
3. Mixed
Technique – any size - Includes various techniques;
stenciling, yoyo’s, wholecloth, cathedral Windows, trapunto, painted, cross-stitched, embroidered, etc. or a combination
of techniques. Machine quilting or long arm quilting done by self.
4. Group
Quilt - any size – Any quilt made or worked on by
more than one person, as long as one of them is a guild member, but it may not be quilted by someone who does this as a business. Round robin quilts and internet swap quilts would fit in this category.
5. Hand
Quilted – any size, any technique, hand quilted by
an individual guild member. Items that have a combination of machine and hand
quilting would not be registered in this category, but rather the appropriate category for technique used.
6. Commercially
Quilted – any size – Any quilt made by a guild
member, or by a group, which is quilted by someone who does this as a business, with the quilter’s name included on
the label.
7. Wearables – any wearable item including bags.
8. Household/Seasonal
– Household items such as table runners, table cloths,
placemats, etc. Seasonal items include wall hangings for specific holidays like Easter or Halloween, Christmas tree skirts,
and bed coverings used for special events such as Christmas, etc.
9. Miniature
– A scaled down version of a full sized quilt, with
the longest side no more than 26”. Maximum block size is 4”.
10. “Not
Playing with a Full Deck” Challenge – Kits &
instructions available from Bonnie Boyd for $4 each.
11. Post Card – any 4” x 6” post card made by an individual guild
member. Post cards received by a
guild member, but not made by that member, may be registered as “for display only”.
12. Youth – Quilt made by someone under the age of 16, sponsored by one of our guild members. These entries will not be voted on. A
ribbon will be awarded for each entry.
