General Meeting Minutes
October
13, 2008
Call the meeting
to order at 9:59 a.m.
- Introduce self and ask that all please take a second and put their phones on silent for the
meeting.
- Welcome everyone and ask if any new members and guests. 1 new
member and 4 guests
- Ask for a motion to accept the minutes of the September meeting be adopted as read/corrected.

- Finance report.
Alice Stevenson
reported that our finances were in good order. The financial statements are in
the detailed financial report in the binders.

In order to keep our meeting moving along I would ask that we have a three minute time limit for each report.

Walker stated that one of the missing books has been found and then asked if anyone had found any of the
books still missing. No response
Lorraine then informed the members that next meeting members would be
allowed to take out 5 –6 – 7 books each as this would make it easier for the library to move to our new location.

Rose Menassas asked that because our Nov meeting will
be held a week earlier, that all submissions be handed
in as quickly as possible so the newsletter can be sent out in time for the meeting

Helen Mathews informed the membership that it is time to fill out your applications for Retreat
- The same place as last year Rosemary Heights and the price is still the same $185
Sunshine- Joy Bean
We Care- Penny Howarth and Harriet Tomashewski
Harriet asked that
while on coffee break, members look over the summer challenges that were hanging,
and fill out a ballot for the one they think best.
Workshops- Carolyn Jennings
and Ingrid Chow
Carolyn Jennings told members that they should see her
not Nearissa or any other instructors as she has the class list etc.
Nearissa
Kasper is doing the Square in a Square class.
Rose
Menassas is teaching her bag - Class is $25 and will be held at A Great Notion
Marilyn
Isaak will be teaching how to make a “Thread Catcher”
Carolyn Jennings will teach a Half Square triangle class,
location to be stated at a later date.
Carolyn also gave some ideas of what she is planning
for the next year and a half, but it is only in the planning stages as yet, stay tuned for further information.
- Old Business- we need a co-president no response from the members
- the November meeting is a week earlier
to allow for remembrance
day. Meeting will be
held on Nov. 4.
- the search committee has found a new
location for our meetings. We have
decided on the Ross Road Community church which is located near the Mount
Lehman exit on Fraser
Highway. We will have our first meeting there in December. A map will be provided in the newsletter.
- I would like to remind everyone about
the inventory lists for each committee. Could we please have them in at the next executive meeting?
- who is doing the Christmas stockings
this year? Lois Brown volunteered to be “Christmas
Stocking” co-coordinator. Lynne Weisgerber has a number of stocking patterns if anyone is interested. Lois also stated that members also make draw string bags that the ladies could use
all year long. Dee Rousselle will be collecting the items that fill the stocking etc that are donated to Transition house.
- New Business- we are now having recycling bins for the guild. They are located and we want members to
bring in magazines, patterns, orphan blocks, good material, threads, etc. Other members can take home what they want.
- we need a new web mistress as Elaine
Livingston is no longer able to do this job. This is an important job as this is how our guild is letting the evening people
know what is going on. Maria Kroeker volunteered to
be Web Mistress.
- Birthday club – Sherry Redekop and Dianna Olsen Sherry announced that they had 3 bags still to be picked
up for the month of Oct
Bus Trips – Rita

Helen Matthews
for Rita Van Veen – told the members that there were 2 sits left in the Martingale trip, November 17th. There was a limit of 15 members. There
are papers on each table, would you please indicate your interest in the following trips - Monroe Quilt Show and/or Anacortes Quilt Show. Both are in March.

Group- Lois Brown Lois reminded everyone that is they change their e-mail address, they should inform
her so that her list is up to date when sending out guild related information.

Bonita Lewinski informed the about the Harrison Springs Quilt Show on Oct 18th
